Since 2021, Kristine has served as a full-time Juvenile Hearings Referee and Judge Pro Tem in Multnomah County, presiding over child welfare, juvenile justice, and family law matters. She is a sitting judicial officer — she already does this work every day.
In this role, she co-chairs the Multnomah County Model Court Team, collaborating with judges and practitioners to improve court processes and strengthen outcomes for families.

For 11 years Kristine represented parents and children in dependency and termination of parental rights proceedings. She stood alongside families at some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
That experience gave her an unmatched understanding of what is at stake in family court — and what it means to ensure every person receives a fair hearing, regardless of their circumstances.

Before earning her law degree, Kristine worked as a legal assistant, paralegal and as a law clerk. She started at the ground level of the legal system and worked her way up. That path gave her practical knowledge of how courts function that most attorneys simply don’t have.

Participate in monthly meetings. The focus of the committee is to provide strategic directions to the child welfare serving system in the county, with a core focus on the safety and well-being of children, young people and families. The committee researches, discusses and promotes evidence-based and best practices that are meant to enhance safety, reduce racial and ethnic disparities, shorten the length of child welfare involvement, and support healing-centered, trauma-informed care for young people and families.
